I spent the week working with Steve Lewis, Paul Toomer and Gemma Smith, revisiting general cave diving skills in order to make some short video resources that will be available to the public, free of charge. We wanted to take a decidedly international view that would embrace all the emerging technologies and locations in cave diving today. In every case, we have decided to choose the most relevant and conservative protocol that we had experienced in our decades of exploration and instruction. After consulting with other thought leaders in cave diving, we will be rolling out lots of fresh resources for free use by students, instructors and trainers. Our hope is to improve the safety culture within cave diving and offer up role model techniques and opinions that will also form the basis of Dive RAID’s new cave diving programs.
